Have we already done this one?

Couldn't remember or find it but anyway, i'm sure it's been up before and now it's back:

The pricely sum of 2000 bucks, or £1300+.

Doesn't even look particularly pristine.

In other news, I noticed this exact same seller has actually sold some of his wares for ridiculous money including an A828 for £600! *faints* and a 'museum piece' H249 for a frankly unbelievable £470+.

Also, what is it with Italian sellers of Seiko and their absurd buy-it-now prices?  There appear to be 4/5 sellers around at the moment all putting up millionaire's row prices. Don't encourage them by buying!

More from our friend in Italy

Nice 7A28-7010 Speedmaster - I've often fancied one of those myself - but at $2000, I think I'll pass.

We You had indeed 'done it' before, James - 5th post down on the previous page.

Indeed, and an incompetent clown at that.

Edit: Did you notice he got the model number wrong in both his listing title AND description - 7A38-7020.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190654839925

SEIKO VINTAGE WATCH 7A38-7020 NOS ULTRA RARE QUARTZ NEW MEGA

Because he still hasn't corrected the incorrect model numbers.

James.

I think the words we both missed using to describe Goffre (and his aspirations) were 'complete and utter' (incompetent clown').

Incredibly, he appears to have received an exceedingly generous offer of $550 for that NOS two-tone 7A38-7270 on 5th April.

See: http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&_trksid=p4340.l2564&rt=nc&item=190654839925

.... only to let it expire !

Well, not quite up there in the stratosphere with that one, but still in the realms of 'silly asking prices' - now there's this on offer:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140737964205

Vintage SEIKO 7A28-7060 Black TITANIUM Chronograph Watch! Mint

Obviously in much nicer original condition than the one which was offered by that deluded eBay seller in Beverly Hills last year ....

But $1,290.00 (approx. £813.42) ??? :o  Are we really heading towards thousand buck plus prices for used mint-ish 7Axx's ?? :/

It would seem not. As expected, no offers were made and it went unsold. The seller re-listed overnight as a conventional 7-day auction,

with an opening bid price of $15.00. See:  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140741964365 - So let's wait and see what the market makes of it.

He doesn't give up easily, does he ?  I see Goffre has re-listed that listed another NOS two-tone 7A38-7270 earlier today:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190669704575

VINTAGE SEIKO WATCH 7A38-7270 MEGA RARE NOS NEW OROLOGIO

Thankfully, he's finally corrected the case model number in his title and description, and taken 2 new half-decent photos this time.

Note the tag on this one does appear to be the correct SAA094J tag (compared to the spurious ladies watch tag on his 7A28-7100).

His asking price has dropped from the previous absolutely bleedin' hilarious $950, to a merely chortle-worthy $800 (approx. £496.37).

I still reckon he'd have done well to accept that previous offer of $550, personally.

Perhaps I spoke too soon.

Goffre has just re-listed that other auction:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190670132949 .... at the same price ($950), still with the same incorrect case number:

SEIKO VINTAGE WATCH 7A38-7020 NOS ULTRA RARE QUARTZ NEW MEGA

As with the previous listing he's included a photo of the case-back - which clearly shows it's a 7A38-7270:

Comparing the case-backs, it appears that he may indeed have 2 of them. This one is s/n 7O4307, and the other begins 777...

Listing both at the same time kind of deflates his claims of them being 'Ultra MEGA Rare' - which we all know this model isn't.

VINTAGE SEIKO CHRONOGRAPH CALIBER 7A34-7010?

Yours for a bargain US $950.00 (about £600)!

You could  buy three of them (@ $285 each NOS) from Chronograph.com for that price, and still have $95 change left, James !

Some of these would-be Italian eBay sellers certainly appear to be living in a dream-world all of their own.

Here's the latest 'silly price' offering - a common-or-garden white-faced stainless 7A38-7280 - it's actually listed twice at the moment:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180871540751 and http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180871625892 (duplicate listing has since been cancelled)

watch, uhr, montre, reloj seiko 7a38-7280

vendo splendido e rarissimo seiko 7a38-7280 day date con bracciale originale , appena revisionato e funzionante in ogni sua parte . possibilità di spedizione gratis.

I sell beautiful and rare seiko 7a38-7280 day date with original bracelet, just revised and running in its entirety.

Free shipping options

Free shipping ? :o I should think so with a Buy-it-Now asking price of 290 Euros (approx. £236.81) !!

The last time one came up in the UK recently , at the beginning of April, it sold for a mere £48 !! :lol::lol:

The auction for that 7A28-7060 ended this morning at a reassuring, but rather more realistic $406.66 (approx. £250.45) after 17 bids.

He's dangerously close to getting his own thread, I'd say.

Well, James, he might just have to share it with that other equally deluded would-be Italian eBay seller, 'angeli_65'.

Remember the item which I started off  this thread with - it was a 'NOS' 7A38-704A (but in an incorrect 'Aliens' box) ?

The seller's ridiculous Buy-it-Now price was $2350. He relisted it a couple of times, but needless to say it went unsold:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270925570907

VINTAGE SEIKO CHRONOGRAPH CALIBER 7A38 - 704A "BY GIUGIARO"

You'll notice that this time, I've included all 5 of the seller's eBay listing photos - there is a reason .... bear with me. ;)

This morning, at first, I thought he'd re-listed it (yet again) - but without the Lancia Delta model car - and in the correct box:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270951142676

SEIKO CHRONOGRAPH CALIBER 7A38 - 704A VINTAGE "BY GIUGIARO"

The asking price on this one (with the correct 'Sport Tech' box, this time) is 'only' $2000 (approx. £1263) by the way.

But then I noticed it's a different serial number to the first one - 420730 versus 440425. So he's got (at least) two of them ! :o

What's also slightly odd about this new eBay listing, is that it also appears to be offered on eBay Italy classifieds for 'only' 700 Euros.

See: http://annunci.ebay.it/annunci/orologi/torino-annunci-torino/vintage-seiko-chronograph-caliber-7a38-704a-by-giugiaro/25982634

All 4 photos used in the 'Annunci' advert are the same - just slightly larger than the eBay auction listing photos. Here's two of them:

With sincere apologies to the other forum members for re-quoting my own post in full, (which I've asked you all not to do :P ) but ....

Could this be true ??????

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/270951142676

Ended: 02 May, 2012 19:26:57 BST. Sold for: US $2,000.00(Approx. £1,234.26)

The next day, the seller left his apparently genuine buyer the following glowing feedback:

EXCELLENT BUYER. DEAR PERSON AND SERIES. TRUE FRIEND. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED.

Buyer: lonewolf9030020 ( 2 ) 03-May-12 18:41

James' favourite Italian eBay seller 'Goffre78' may ask, and occasionally get away with, some of the most ridiculous prices on eBay,

but he also turns out the occasional extremely rare 'gem'. I'm not sure if he's listed this before, because the photos are dated May ....

But he's currently offering a genuinely rare NOS 7A36-7000 'Surf Timer' in the most desirable colour combination - black and yellow:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190685833300

SEIKO VINTAGE WATCH 7A36-7000 SURF TIMER PIECE MUSEUM ULTRA NOS RARE NEW MEGA

Yours for a mere MEGA $840.00 (approx. £547.73).

Credit where it's due, the price may be silly but what price that surf timer?  I've never seen one and in A1 condition...

It's a mystery where he gets his watches from, indeed where all these Italian sellers get them from.

As it's summer, anyone fancy going on a horological pilgrimage around old Italian watch shops on behalf of the forum?

Maybe Prometheus is causing the current surge in prices? (Maybe we should be buying up all the watches they wear in Prometheus for retirement?)
