This familiar looking JDM 7A38-6030, in average worn condition, now fitted with a NATO strap, but also supplied with its original bracelet, was listed in the early hours of this morning by a US eBay seller, with a Buy-it-Now price of $400, or the option to make an offer. Currently, the seller has rather short-sightedly uploaded only one photo showing the watch on its bracelet. :/ If I was thinking about buying it (I'm not), I'd certainly want to see more. However, there is help at hand - indirectly. ;)

This is of course, yet another case of Déjà Vu - the same 7A38-6030, case-back serial number 493514, sold by another US eBay seller at the end of November last year, for $350. There are plenty of photos of the watch, fitted with its bracelet in my penultimate post. Indeed, it appears that rather than take his own photos, this lazy re-seller has 'borrowed' the primary image from the previous seller's listing.

The above JDM 7A38-6030 sold a couple of days ago, but not for the Buy-it-Now price of $400, nor the $350 it previously sold for at the end of November last year.

WatchCount.com's Look-up tool reveals it actually sold for a best offer of $300.

Indeed, it transpires it was purchased by our newest forum member Charlie, who's eagerly anticipating it's arrival. ;)

New forum member Charlie did indeed post an update a couple of days ago - and the outcome was rather disappointing. :( Unfortunately, in doing so, he made the classic newbie mistake of quoting my preceding post in full. As I can't edit or remove what I deem an 'unnecessary' quote from any post, I simply deleted it. Sorry. ;)

Here's a copy and paste of Charlie's text:

So it was no great surprise to me when the US eBay seller re-listed it yesterday:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163522273080

Note the seller has once again misleadingly included one of the previous seller's photos (the primary image), showing the watch fitted with its original bracelet. However, the relevant part of the latest revised description now reads simply:

Comes with nylon band.

Compared to his previous re-listing which stated:

Comes with metal bracelet and nylon band. Bracelet will fit about a 7 inch wrist.

I note with bemusement that since I made my previous post, the would-be US eBay seller of that 7A38-6030 had made a couple of revisions to his listing.

He now appears to have mysteriously found the watch's missing bracelet again.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163522273080

He's changed the order of his photos, so that the previous seller's primary image (of the watch fitted with its bracelet) is now the primary image in his re-listing. He's also dropped the Buy-it-Now price from $350 to $320. The relevant sentence in the latest revised description now reads: Comes with nylon band and original bracelet.

In the early hours of this morning, the would-be US re-seller of the above JDM 7A38-6030 re-listed it once again; this time not as another Buy-it-Now, but as a low start 7-day auction, with an opening bid price of $1. Bidding is currently @ $20.50.

I'm posting in catch-up mode, after a very busy week at work - hence the delay in adding a number of updates. The re-listed 7-day auction for the above 7A38-6030 ended at the beginning of this week, selling for $290 after 32 bids.

I really don't know why I bother sometimes.

Just an hour after I'd made my previous post, the flakey US eBay seller bellandrossnut pulled his latest re-listing because of an alleged error.

Quite incredibly, it's back on eBay yet again, re-listed earlier this afternoon - this time as a 7-day auction, with an opening bid price of $1. But hang on a minute - haven't we been here before, just 2 weeks ago ?

The above re-listed 7-day US eBay auction for a 7A38-6030 ended a couple of days ago. This time around, it only made $191.50 after 13 bids (compared to $290 in the previous auction). Apparently, the current eBay re-seller had issues with his PayPal account. Let's hope it stays sold this time.

This JDM 7A38-6030, in decent used condition, evidently with minimal wear to the black chrome plating, was listed on Yahoo Japan earlier today by a 'Store' seller, as a 7-day auction, with an opening bid price of 1 Yen.

Google translates the Japanese seller's formatted description as follows:

The above 7-day Yahoo Japan auction for a JDM 7A38-6030 ended earlier today, with bidding at ¥51,000 Yen after 43 bids. Being a 'Store' listing it's subject to 8% Japanese sales tax, giving a total selling price of ¥55,080 Yen, being equivalent to approx. $494.40 USD / £373.90 GBP.

I'm just inserting this here, as something of a rather belated update. I hadn't seen any 7A38-6030's listed on Yahoo Japan, since my previous posts in March. I can't honestly say that in the interim, I'd actually looked anywhere else. This morning, I ran a quick google image search and spotted a couple I hadn't seen before.

This 7A38-6030, in average worn condition, was listed on Reddit Watch Exchange by a US seller in March (in fact on the 18th - the same day that YJ auction ended), with a very reasonable asking price of $255.

Needless to say, it's long since sold (a month later for $250).

This JDM 7A38-6030 in well worn used condition, was listed on Yahoo Japan earlier this morning as a 5-day auction, with a highly over-optimistic (given the condition) opening bid price of 60,000 Yen.

http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/b408978072

Google translates the Japanese seller's decription as follows:

There are no accessories with the watch alone. There are many scratches etc. in second hand and there are also small dents. There are places where the color is bald due to scratches or rubbing. There are also long scratches on the glass surface. Currently working and there is no problem with the clock function. There is no problem with the chronograph, such as a return hand, but the small hand at the 15-minute position does not return to 0 and there is a variation where it stops. There is dirt on the needle and index fluorescence. I don't know whether the bezel is moving or fixed here, but it doesn't turn now. The arm circumference is about 19 centimeters. I need your help by a no claim no return.

I suppose I should post an interim update on that well-worn 7A38-6030 listed on Yahoo Japan. The YJ seller has continued to re-list it, for 5 days at a time, but his over-optimistic opening bid price is gradually coming down in stages: 55,000 Yen; 52,000 Yen: 50,000 Yen, then re-listed twice @ 48,000 Yen. He re-listed it again earlier today, with the opening bid price further reduced to 46,000 Yen.

Probably still a fair way to go, before anybody bites.

The would-be YJ seller ezzy62jp has continued to re-list his well-worn 7A38-6030, gradually reducing his opening bid price in 1000 Yen decrements. At the weekend he dropped it to 40,000 Yen. Probably still some way to go. :/

It's been painfully slow getting there, but over the last two months and the course of numerous re-listings, would-be YJ seller ezzy62jp has gradually further reduced the opening bid price of his well-worn 7A38-6030 from 40,000 Yen down to 30,000 Yen.

Would-be YJ seller ezzy62jp re-listed his well-worn 7A38-6030 another three times @ 30,000 Yen. It seemed that might be as low as he was prepared to go (half his original completely unrealistic 60,000 Yen). But in the last week of January, he relented and re-listed it with the opening bid price further reduced to 28,000 Yen.

It took two more 5-day re-listings, before finally attracting a bidder, yesterday. The latest re-listed auction ended a few minutes ago, with the well-worn 7A38-6030 finally selling (after nearly 6 months) for the much reduced opening bid price of ¥28,000 Yen, equivalent to approx $255 USD / £198 GBP.
