This 7A38-714A in average worn condition, in need of a replacement crystal (and possibly more), was listed late last night by a US eBay seller, with a Buy-it-Now price of $275. From the seller's description, it sounds very much like it's suffering from a damaged day / date changeover wheel.

I wasn't sure how that one might pan out. I guess we'll never know now, because yesterday evening, the US eBay seller ended the listing because of an alleged error. Possibly sold off eBay via the 'back door'. Who knows. :/

This 7A38-714A, fitted with a poorly notched shark strap, was listed this morning by an Italian eBay seller as a 5-day auction, with an opening bid price of 1 Euro. The seller included 'NOS' in his listing title and 'Like New' in his description, but apart from the lack of its original bracelet, it only took a quick glance at the photos to see the typical wear to the black chrome plating and to deduce that it most definately was neither.

Academic anyway, because before I had the chance to write it up here, the seller had already ended the auction listing, as 'item no longer available', cancelling the single bid which had been placed in the process.

That 7A38-714A is back again, re-listed about an hour or so ago.

The listing looks pretty much the same as before, except the Italian eBay seller has shuffled the order of his photos and extended the auction duration from 5 to 7 days. It'll be interesting to see how long it actually lasts this time.

Of course, being an Italian eBay auction, it was just a matter of time before a shill was bought in to play. Three hours into the auction in this case. This is the 30-day bidding activity for the current high bidder, shown in encryted form as y***w (5) or t***o (5), depending which screen you look at:

A total of 63 bids on 11 different titems (all watches), belonging to the same seller, with whom they have 100% activity. 'To keep eBay a safe place', my arse.

With almost 10 hours of the 7-day typically Italian eBay auction still left to run, I note with amusement that someone has bumped the shill to 298 Euros.

Meanwhile, yesterday evening, another Italian eBay seller listed another well-worn 7A38-714A, with a laughable 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of 390 Euros, or the option to make a much lower more sensible offer. Still at least this one is still fitted with it's original B1356 bracelet.

That eBay listing ended earlier this morning, with the 7A38-714A supposedly sold.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153497362794

According to WatchCount.com's look-up tool, it sold for a best offer of 300 Euros.

But the sale must have fallen through, because a little over 10 minutes later, it was back on eBay again, with the re-listing looking exactly the same as it did before.

The 7-day Italian eBay auction for the 7A38-714A, fitted with a non-original shark strap, ended a few moments ago, with the bidding @ 298 Euros after 9 bids - the same as it was 10 hours ago. Sensibly, nobody decided to try outbidding the shill. Assuming I'm not wrong, I predict the losing bidder will already have received a second chance offer by the time I've finished writing this post.

These devious Italian eBay sellers are sometimes so pathetically predictable.

Less than 10 minutes after the auction ended, it was back on eBay again, this time with a 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of 265 Euros, or the option to make a lower offer, which he rightfully deserves. He'd evidently realized it wasn't going to sell, before the auction ended, because he's taken and uploaded 5 new photos to this re-listing, with the primary image showing today's day / date.

As the saying goes: God loves a trier !

In parallel with that Buy-it-Now listing, the Italian eBay seller has also just re-listed it as a 3-day auction, with an opening bid price of 1 Euro. Given his previous form, does he really seriously think there are people out there stupid enough to bid on one of his auctions a second time ?

The funny thing...there are 2 on eBay right now. Rare. Even without the bracelet. I think it's a cool 7A38.

Yes, Renaud. Cool and rare the 7A38-714A may be. Even I don't own one. :(

But the problem is, they're both on eBay Italy, which is never a good thing !

The Italian eBay seller evidently didn't like the way his parallel auction listing wasn't progressing. Checking the cancelled bidding history, it looks like it had only reached 5 Euros or less (although the high bidder's maximum was actually 20 Euros). So at lunchtime today, he ended the auction, cancelling the few bids in the process.

No great surprise either, he ended the Buy-it-Now listing earlier this afternoon.

I hadn't bothered posting any updates recently, but since re-listing that 7A38-714A a month ago, the Italian eBay seller had made a number of revisions to their listing, specifically reducing the Buy-it-Now price a total of 5 times, from the still unrealistic 390 Euros down to 255 Euros.

The 30-day listing was scheduled to end @ 09:11 BST this morning, but the seller ended it 2 hours early, allegedly because of an error in the listing. Perhaps they may have succumbed to a 'back door' offer, off eBay. Who knows ? :/

Apparently not, because it's back on eBay again, re-listed by the Italian seller, earlier this evening. The set of photos he's uploaded to this listing are mostly new, apart from two which he'd used in his original eBay listing in May (and subsequent re-listings), which I haven't bothered posting again. His latest Buy-it-Now price is 290 Euros - compared to his original 'pie-in-the-sky' figure of 390 Euros in May and 255 Euros he'd reduced that to by mid-June.

Obviously the same watch, case-back serial number 5N0088, but note the damage to the Tachymeter ring lettering, which wasn't there in his previous set of photos.
