The above 7-day UK eBay auction for a 7A28-7120 RAF Gen. 1 ended earlier this evening, selling for the opening bid price of £800.

Or perhaps not. The same 7A28-7120 RAF Gen. 1, previously listed by UK eBay seller 24334766 was back on eBay again this lunchtime - re-listed again as 7-day auction, with the same opening bid price of £800, or the option to make an offer.

At the risk of repeating myself .... Per his previous recent listings, I'm no longer bothering to copy and paste his 'standard template' description. :P

This 7A28-7120 RAF Gen. 1, in admittedly better than average used condition, was listed earlier this morning, by an Italian eBay seller, without the usual accompanying fanfare, but a typically over-optimistic Buy-it-Now price of 1400 Euros, or the option to make an offer.

At lunchtime today, regular and lately profilic UK eBay seller skytwang listed yet another 7A28-7120 RAF Gen. 1, with a Buy-it-Now price of £840 and in his now customary manner, without the option to make an offer.

At the weekend (in one of the 7A38-xxxx model specific threads), I accused the Italians of being the worst offenders, when it comes to speculative over-pricing. I had of course completely forgotten about the Japanese eBay 'proxy' sellers.

This 7A28-7120 RAF Gen. 1, which according to their description isn't even 100% properly functioning, was listed late yesterday evening by Japanese eBay 'proxy' seller fe-shop-japan, with a ludicrous 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of $3400 - to which they've since applied a paltry 5% discount, which brings the eqivalent Sterling price down to a few quid over £2500 !!

This 7A28-7120 RAF Gen. 1 Head Only, with stated non-functioning chronograph, was listed yesterday afternoon, by a UK eBay seller, as a 7-day auction, with an opening bid price of £346, or the option to make an offer.

1988 British Military Issue Pilot Chronograph Watch Seiko Gen 1 7A28-7120 RAF UK. Condition is Used.

The watch keeps time but the chronograph doesn't seem to work.

This was my father's watch and he's no longer here so I can't ask him about it and I don't know much about it sorry.

There is no strap with it I'm afraid.

At the risk of almost repeating myself ....

Yesterday evening, regular UK eBay seller britishmilitarysurplus listed yet another non-running 7A28-7120 RAF Gen. 1 Head Only, in the same format as his previous recent listings: another 3-day auction, with an opening bid price of £300 (and presumably with the option to make an offer).

As usual, I won't bother copying his 'standard template' description. :P

This 7A28-7120 RAF Gen. 1 was listed this afternoon as a 7-day auction, with an opening bid price of £850, but with a reserve set, or the option to Buy-it-Now for a highly over-optimistic £1250. I fear the would-be seller will probably have to lower his expectations.

This 7A28-7120 RAF Gen. 1 Head Only was listed late last night by a UK eBay seller, with a Buy-It-Now price of £819 (without the option to make an offer).

Seiko Gen 1 RAF issue pilots watch.

1989 issue, so that will make it 30 years old now.

Excellent condition. The chronograph function starts/stops correctly and each dial resets to zero. The dial and hands are perfect.

USA bidders: please check to see if eBay is going to charge you tax. If you think they will, then contact me first and we can discuss what your options are before the auction ends.

UK postage is £10.90 for Royal Mail.

International shipping is £49.00 for DHL tracked and insured mail. It’s the only reliable way to post internationally now as most companies do not insure jewellery.

As there have been a couple of 7A28-7120 RAF Gen. 1's, mentioned here in the past, which have suffered the ignominy of having their MOD case-back stampings obliterated, I guess this may possibly be of interest to someone. This case-back, in reasonable used condition, was listed late last night, by a UK eBay seller, with an ambitious 'pie-in-the-sky' Buy-it-Now price of £250, or the option to make an offer.

Checking my eBay watching page, that 7A28-7120 RAF Gen. 1 case-back appears to have sold fairly quickly, late last night.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/264526644832

Not as eBay would have you believe, for the full £250 Buy-it-Now price, but as revealed by the alternative 'true selling price' link, for a best offer of £187.50.

This empty 7A28-7120 RAF Gen. 1 watch case was listed in the early hours of this morning, by a UK eBay seller, with a Buy-it-Now price of just £50 - remarkably low after the previous case-back.

1980s British Military Issue Pilot Chronograph Watch Gen 1 Seiko 7A28-7120 Case. Watch NATO Stock Number (NSN): 6645-99-7683056. Non-reflective brushed stainless steel, water resistant with screw down case back, fixed strap bars. Case back marked with NATO Stock Number, year, serial number and MOD broad arrow. Case number: 6106/88. In good, serviceable condition as shown in the first 3 photographs. The last 2 stock pictures show the full watch and the case with the movement fitted. Listing is for case only.

The British Issue Gen 1 Seiko 7A28-7120 was made to British Military specifications and issued to military fast jet and helicopter pilots in the 1980s. The Seiko 7A28 was the first analog quartz chronograph movement ever produced: an extremely accurate 15 jewel movement made from precision engineered metal components and gears.

Will post worldwide (tracked). Will combine postage. Please await invoice if purchasing more than one item.

Please look at my other Army and Special Forces items.

Not surprisingly, it sold a couple of hours later, after receiving just 20 views:

Going through my eBay watching page, I noticed the UK eBay seller had ended the above listing for a 7A28-7120 RAF Gen. 1 in the early hours of this morning as item no longer available. Presumably sold off eBay for a 'back door' offer. :/

I hadn't bothered to post an update before, but to no great surprise, that first 7-day auction ended without any bids being placed. The would-be seller had re-listed it a week ago (item # 392525040769) with the opening bid price reduced to £800 (with a reserve set) and the Buy-it-Now price reduced to £1150. He revised that re-listing a couple of times, including replacing the primary image and lowering the reserve price. The outcome was the same - no bids placed, unsold again. This afternoon, he re-listed it a second time, as another 7-day auction, with the same opening bid price of £800 (again with a reserve set) or the option to make an offer.
