The Suwa factory continued to produce the 3800 series through the first half of the 1970s, and the 3823 still gets top billing in the JDM catalogue as late as 1976. However, rapid development by both Suwa and Daini led to a confusing proliferation of Quartz movements in this period. Suwa followed up the 3800 series with the 0900 and 4800 series. It's likely that the 0900 series was the successor to the 3800 although the 0900 and 4800 both series first appear in the catalogues in 1975. Along with some of the (Daini) 0800 series, the 0900s formed the mid-range QZ line in Japan. There are 4 movements in the series:

  • 0920 (time only), 0922 (date), 0923 (day/date) all at 15s/m.
  • 0903 (day/date) - 20s/m.

The 0903 was used in non-JDM "4004" models and also (later) in the JDM "Type II" models.

I have four representatives of the series. Two QZ models (0920-8010-G and 0923-8010-G):

and two 4004s (0903-8000-G and 0903-7019):

I think they kept the nicest bracelets for the QZ models.
