Today I'm wearing my 7A38-701A. Shame about the polished case and faded orange hands....but I still like it

Never make apologies for your 7Axx Arpad. I've been wearing an old favourite this afternoon. My self-built franken 7A38-7070 fitted with the all-black 709L dial from a 7A38-7080:

Does anyone like the 7A28-7120 RAF Gen 1?
I just realised that I'm wearing a green shirt so I thought that the RAF Gen 1 would be a suitable "partner" for today

Hey, what's with using your own imported smiley's Arpad ? Seriously - I don't mind at all. Here's my wrist shot for today - another old favourite of mine. My 'Dinky Diver' 7A38-6000 on a vintage Seiko 'Beads of Rice' bracelet:

Indeed, Simon. http://www.seiko7a38.com/apps/forums/topics/show/8689138-happy-birthday-wishes-thread- Looks like your taste in (other brands of) Seiko 7A38's has finally 'come of age' too. Funnily enough, guess what I'm wearing this afternoon ? My original Yema Spationaute III 'bitza' with the 'mission flags' dial.

Four hours to the start of 'The Great American Race' (The Daytona 500) later this afternoon. .... and I was wondering whether to wear bright green (7A38-7040) or dayglo orange (7A38-704A). As the SUN on my 7A38-7040 looks a little orangey, I thought I'd go with that one.
Go
But gorgeous fast lady as she is, somehow I have a feeling it's going to be

I'm a little bit late posting today's WRUW shot. My camera's battery seems to be on the way out. My Yema N8 Flygraf (which going by the condition of the one sold by Timely_Classic recently, has got to be worth at least £500+ !!)

It may look like I am still wearing my 7A38-7020, but in fact it is my number two 7A38-7020. Number three, my sample case, that I paid a ridiculous amount for (Yes Paul, I have come to my senses) is still waiting to be assembled to a complete watch by fellow member Jurgen. I have found a complete set of ....(Can't remember the word. Not in Dutch, not in English. Well, you know: little rubber rings to keep out moist and water) and now I can send it off to him, together with a donor 7A38 for the movement. I think my Iphone makes better pictures than my cr*ppy camera. What do you think? (You can even see the dirt in the bracelet! Sorry about that)

Nice pictures - that watch (well the case & bracelet) needs a dip in the ultrasonic bath!!!

Prompted by the recent nefarious activities of would-be opportunist eBay seller 'martinachertok' .... I thought I'd dig out my 7A38-7000 and give it a little wrist time. To use the vernacular, this one (mine, as opposed to hers) is stunning:

Not bad, Harry. A self-built franken combination of your last two wrist shots: the 700L dial and hands from a 7A38-7000 beater in a 7A38-7020/9 case.

Thanks for the compliments, Con and Harry. That particular 7A38 Franken was something of a 'happy accident'. I did write up about it in a thread on RLT in August 2010, entitled: A Few Of My Own 7A38 'Frankens' - Shock, Horror ! See post # 17 through #24 (on page 2): http://www.thewatchforum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=57525&view=findpost&p=586306 I had actually seen something very much like it, which probably 'sowed the seed' in the back of my mind, on eBay back in May 2010:
When I first built mine, it still had the correct (for a 7A38-7029) Seiko p/n B1171S bracelet fitted:
But I subsequently removed that decent bracelet to use on another 7A38-7029, which I was also re-building around the same time. To part answer your question, Con - the bracelet now fitted is a Seiko p/n Z1020S. I bought a couple N.O.S. from an eBay seller in Thailand - Salestuff-100. I was looking for something a 'little different', to make this watch into a 'proper' franken (by my definition - a later quote from that thread: But this is a 'Franken', and to be a 'pukka' Franken, it's really got to be fitted with the 'wrong' bracelet. they should really be fitted with a 'wrong' bracelet) and this one fitted the bill nicely. Not just the 10mm lug fitting / 23mm width at the shoulder, but the 'dummy rivet' motif matches the bezel. The links are slightly thinner than those of a B1171S, but still a good weight. See: http://www.thewatchforum.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=57525&st=45&p=678988&#entry678988 later in that same RLT thread. That photo I posted yesterday was a pretty good one. I have posted photos of this watch before in this thread, back in June last year. Seeing as the day / date shown on one of them is good for (later) today, here's a re-post.
The dial and hands don't bear too close an examination. An attractive combination it may be, but had it not been for that 'fortunate accident', I wouldn't have broken a decent one to build this.

As this seems to have turned into a Franken First Friday Pretty much along similar lines, fitted with the same p/n Z1020S bracelet, but the 709L dial from a 7A38-7070 and a few other tweaks.
